Smith & Sons Radiomobile 4200 car radio vintage 1950s

This is an original condition vintage Smith & Sons Radiomobile car stereo radio, model 4200, dating from around 1950s/1960s. This model would be popular in British brands of the era such as Bentley and Jaguar (XK120). In decent condition for a survivor of its age and with no significant exterior damage but plenty of scope for cleaning.

All knobs & buttons are present; the knobs turn as they should and the presets move properly. The dial is still clear with no scratches or missing paint.

The buttons are good and even the original HMV logo badge is still there - though faded. The metal bezel panel needs cleaning and fresh paint. The original brand/model/serial number plate is still on the body. The body (hidden when installed) still has most of the original black paint and stencil labels, but there are a few scuffs.

There is extremely light corrosion marks as you would expect even if the radio was still in a car. All items included in the listing are displayed in the photos - I cannot vouch for the radio being complete and/or functional. I have been informed that there is a second part to this model, but I do not have it available at the moment. Car radios are not my specialist area of interest, hence I haven't been able to test these radios, but I think that the person I bought them off originally would've had them working to some degree.

My hope is that these radios - see my other listings - will go to new homes that will have them working and installed in the correct era cars.
