RARE Vintage 1928 -1930 Roamio 90 AUTOMOBILE Radio Accessory item Classic car

In the classic car or radio collector hobby it is becoming harder and harder to run across those rare and unique items that have survived, accessory items for the Classic car that set it off and make it stand out more in luxury and status, from having that rare Lalique hood ornament, Art Decco figured sidemount mirrors to the Red and Green running board courtesy lights. Each item makes the oppulance and grandeur of a Classic of the 1920's and 1930's depression era cars stand out all the more, unique and special. Most Automobile manufacturers did not come out with radios as an optional feature in cars until the mid to late 1930s, it became standard equipment in most cars after WW2. Based on information I have researched and been able to gather, Crosley patented their car radio, the Roamio (I guess the name symbolizes being able to Roam around with the convenience of having a portable radio in a car) around 1927 and came out with the Roamio Model 90 I believe as early as 1928, and became more prominently promoted and advertised by 1930.

It was advertised to consumers and probably promoted at dealerships of high end automobiles to sell for an added mark-up along with other aftermarket period accessories. The Roamio 90 was a 6 volt Automobile radio that came with a one dial controller, Dynacone speaker, radio receiver (tube box) and connected to both the car battery (A) and three additional batteries (B, C and D) installed in the car near the rear end.

I have never tried to connect the radio to a power source to test it out but it appears to be in good condition with original Radio tubes and braided wiring. As can be seen by the diagram, the Radio Control was designed to mount near the dash area, the Speaker under the dash or near the firewall, and I imagine the receiver could have been mounted either under the seat compartment which most cars had, or even up under the floorboards. This is rare and scarce piece of Radio and Automotive history, an item that any Classic car owner would want to have as an added accessory and feature to show case in your car that very few owners have, or will have the opportunity to find. Please Review all posted pictures as an added visual description to overall condition.
